Hummingbirds in Mejía

Outside the little village Mejía on the coast of South-Peru I spent a few days the last couple of months. I got some photos of two types of hummingbirds.

The first one is an Oasis-Hummingbird. You can find this bird in Ecuador, Peru and Chile. You can find it on the west-coast up to 3800 meters above sea level. They are from 11 to 13,5 cm long.

This one is a Purple-Collared Woodstar. This one is really small. Much smaller than the Oasis-Hummingbird. They can be from 8 to 9,5 cm. Thats just 2 cm more than the Bee Hummingbird which is the smallest in the world. It’s amazing to see this tiny little bird flying from flower to flower in a hurry.
